“Muppy’s Chex Mix”
4 cups Rice Chex
4 cups Corn Chex
2 cups pretzels
1 cup sliced almonds or pecans
1 cup dried fruit (cranberries, banana chips, raisins etc.)
6 TBS. margarine
3 TBS. light corn syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Mix cereal, pretzels and almonds in a big oven proof bowl. Set aside.
Mix margarine, corn syrup and brown sugar in a sauce pan — bring to a boil while stirring.
Reduce heat & let simmer 5 minutes without stirring.
Remove from heat and add baking soda. It will get foamy. Slowly pour over cereal mixture. Bake 15 min. at 300 degrees.
Stir and cook 5 more minutes. Add dried fruit, cool on baking sheet.
Now, to sprinkle a little more sparkle in this recipe for the Holidays add red and green M&Ms and use the “Holiday” shaped pretzels!!
