Thank you! Thats so Sweet (and Salty)…

When I think of the Holidays, it always reminds me of my Mother’s Chex Mix baking in the oven and perfuming our house with this wonderful Carmel sweet and salty aroma. Make this recipe and package it in cellophane and ribbons for a Christmas gift your friends will become addicted to.

Muppy’s Chex Mix”

4 cups Rice Chex
4 cups Corn Chex
2 cups pretzels
1 cup sliced almonds or pecans
1 cup dried fruit (cranberries, banana chips, raisins etc.)

6 TBS. margarine
3 TBS. light corn syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 tsp. baking soda

Mix cereal, pretzels and almonds in a big oven proof bowl. Set aside.

Mix margarine, corn syrup and brown sugar in a sauce pan — bring to a boil while stirring.
Reduce heat & let simmer 5 minutes without stirring.
Remove from heat and add baking soda. It will get foamy. Slowly pour over cereal mixture. Bake 15 min. at 300 degrees.

Stir and cook 5 more minutes. Add dried fruit, cool on baking sheet.

Now, to sprinkle a little more sparkle in this recipe for the Holidays add red and green M&Ms and use the “Holiday” shaped pretzels!!
